A submarine has ballast
tanks to help it to dive underwater and rise to the surface. Filling the tanks with water makes the submarine heavier, so it sinks. Pumping air into the tanks makes the submarine lighter, so it floats.
A comet is a chunk of ice and dust. When it passes near the sun, some of its ice turns to gas and forms a long tail that glows in the night sky. In 1996 the probe
Ulysses found that the tail of comet Hyakutake was 350 miles long.
These are really very interesting.
